Description

“The Horla” (French: Le Horla) is an 1887 short horror story written in the style of a journal by the French writer Guy de Maupassant, after an initial, much shorter version published in the newspaper Gil Blas, October 26, 1886.
Guy de Maupassant (5 August 1850 – 6 July 1893) was a French writer, remembered as a master of the short story form, and as a representative of the naturalist school of writers, who depicted human lives and destinies and social forces in disillusioned and often pessimistic terms.
Guy de Maupassant, wrote Le Horla during his moments of lucidity while he was at the top of his art. This collection of disturbing news marks the beginnings of the madness of its author, who is more and more victim of hallucinations and splitting of the personality because of the syphilis which he contracted and which will prevail at 43 years
