After nearly 16 years, Isabel Conklin or belly to most of her social circle, finds herself longing for thee feeling of fitting in with her older brother- Steven- and her summer house friends, Conrad and Jeremiah Fisher, the sons of her mother’s best friend Susana Fisher. This book tells the story of a newly bloomed beauty and the way she is treated in her society.
In this book, Belly talks about some of her past summers in Cousins with the boys and Susana, she shows how much she loves this summer house in cousins and how it’s a part of her and that cousins is her home away from home. She also tries to get over her little girl crush Conrad.
But does summer go the way she planned? Not at all. She went down the rabbit hole of confusion and doubt until she found the end of the tunnel and walked out “dating” Conrad fisher. But what about his younger brother? The boy that liked belly ever since they were kids. And what about what happened to Beck? The cancer that came back.
In this book, I was team Jeremiah, he understood belly and he showed he cared about her whereas for Conrad he was way down his grief that he didn’t care about anyone else.
Belly ended up dating Con and all but I though Jeremiah deserved better. Plus, the way Laurel and Susana broke the news to the kids was very sad.
In this first book, the romance was near to non-existent we mostly focused on how summers usually went at the summer house and belly’s long-lasting adoration and love for Conrad.
This book was amazing, but it hit me hard after Susana’s news.
I’d recommend this book to people that enjoy romance and fiction, whereas the people that enjoy non-fiction and self-help books will not like this book let alone finish it.
