I liked the friendship between Nehemiah and Celaena in this book and how the princess taught the assassin wyrdmarks and how to read them. As well as how Celaena was helping the targets escape their assassinations by bargaining with them; for example, a ring for their life. My absolute favorite chapter in this book was Chapter 18 it was then I knew what Nehemiah meant when she told Dorian that he has power within him. Iconic moment.
I was sad when my favorite character, besides Fleetfoot, dies; and when did that happened? When Chaol was kidnapped and Celaena was going to free him, he knew what was going to happen to Nehemiah and didn’t inform the assassin.
After that tragic death, Celaena did something that no person in their right mind would do, I mean why would I listen to a book labeled ‘The Walking Dead’ to open a door that I don’t know what’s behind it. Good thing she was a trained assassin or she would have died easily.
I was mad at Chaol for being scared of the girl after discovering what she really was in another realm and he was a bit weary of his best friend too.
Before Chaol had shipped Celaena off to Wendlyn for her own protection, as he said, she told him something to decipher which ends up being shocking news, to both reader and Chaol. I would rate this book 3 stars just because she killed my favorite character and favorite ship (so far).
